Draw on masking in Apple Motion

Hello.

I'm trying to create a draw on motion so that I can animate this colored line. I added a bezier line so that I can do the animated draw on effect to animate the line. It just turns white and I can't get rid of the white so that only the background is showing through. Now, I know that I need to mask out something, but I can't figure it out, now, I'm sure this is something VERY simple but I could really use a point in the right direction so I can animate this line and keep the background. *see photos.

Thank you for your help!

Hi

Can you provide some screen shots of your layers panel?

Generally, you would use the bezier line as a 'source' for an image mask.

Apple the image mask to the layer with the blue line (It is not clear if that is an independent layer from the background or not)

When the image mask is applied, assign the bezier path to the mask source. Set the mask to 'add'.

Now it should reveal the blue below as it draws in.

I assume the blue line is a png or pdf file? Not a motion shape is that right?

Otherwise, have you tried to just reproduce the blue line with the bezier tool and animate it directly?
