Video audio fades in slowly

When I record video on my iphone 11 Pro, the audio fades in slowly. Any audio in the beginning of the recorded video can’t be heard at all. As time passes, the recorded audio increases volume until it reaches the appropriate level.

interestingly, when I record a video on whatsapp using the same phone, this issue does not happen. Audio and video record normally and plays back normally even in the photos gallery.

please help. I’m loosing precious moments of recorded video without usable audio.

additional info:

settings/camera/record stereo sound - when off - the problem goes away
if stereo on, but I record video in the “photo” mode, but holding the shutter button, the problem also goes away

Hello, I tried restarting the phone and testing the microphones as suggested. All 3 mics work well. But the problem of audio slowly fading in, before reaching normal level persists.

Please note that after the "fade in" time, the sound becomes perfect every time. So it does not seem like there is a hardware problem. It seems like there is an algorithm to adequately set the recording volume, that is taking too much time to get to the right point.

What should I do?

Hello Eduardo567,

From your post it appears you are having an issue with hearing audio when recording video using the Camera app and stereo audio.

Have you power cycled the iPhone using these instructions: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections.

If the issue continues, based on your description, there may be a problem with one of the microphones on the iPhone. Go through these steps to test them: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

I am having this exact same problem. Has literally just suddenly come on today, after 18 months of using the phone to record video without issue. Exactly as the OP describes: Audio is almost inaudible at start of recording, gradually fades in over approx 20 seconds, after which it is loud and clear and no problem.
