Setting up a Keyboard shortcut for show guides

I sent a message to Apple asking them to add a command key for show/hide guides, unbelievable that in all these years it has not been added.

As someone who does a lot of designing in the app it's pretty horrible they have not listened to those who use it and implemented such a command yet.

Apple messaged me back to say I could create one, so I followed their instructions but I assume because the commands I was setting were already in use, so far has not worked.

Has anyone gotten it to work?

View->Guide->View Guide...

This was the way it was supposed to be input per their email.

I tried command keys like shift/option/command G, I also tried the same with L but nothing has worked yet.

Looking for the solution, if you have some idea of how to make it work, let me know.

Thanks.

I'v used custom shorts cuts for many years, I have this set up in Monterey now and it works OK

Note the spelling in the view menu, it must be 100% accurate in System Preferences shortcuts: Show Guides
