Copy file-titles in Finder?

Correct me if I am wrong.  I seem to remember that in the last century, I could highlight a list of files in Finder and copy the titles with “command c.”

Here is an example.  This is a screen shot of a folder on my Desktop.  In the folder are three Word files.

I believe that, in the distant past, I could select all three files with “command a.”  Then I could copy the titles of the files onto Clipboard.  I then pasted these titles as text into a new document, such as Word.

I have not been able to do this for decades.  Am I just imagining that Finder had this ability in the past?   Or is there some new technique now?

In Monterey's 12.0.1 Finder list view, I selected four files and copied them to the clipboard. I opened LibreOffice Writer 7.2.2 and just pasted into the blank document. Each document's contents pasted into separate pages. However, if I chose Paste Special > Unformatted text, then the four filenames were pasted as a single, undelimited string.

Apple is not about position, but rather, about change. What is past has no assurance of prologue. May have worked in a previous version of Word, but also, Microsoft has a tendency to change things too.

Hmmm... I do not seem to have this issue.

Try your copy & pasting your list into a plain .txt file as a test and compare your results:

TextEdit.app>Format>Plain txt

I have my TextEdit>Preferences> set to Plain Txt by default— it is easy enough to use the key shortcuts to change if needed.
