Students Offline in Apple Classroom

We've rolled out Apple Classroom across 9 year groups, with just over 400 classes, and for at least 10-15% of these classes, some have the issue of all the students appearing as 'Offline'. Some other classes have the odd student or two also appearing as 'Offline' (usually the same students).

We've done the obvious and checked that they are on the correct WiFi, Bluetooth is On and Aeroplane Mode is Off.

We upload the Classroom data via SFTP in Apple School Manager, and our MDM in JamF Pro, which we've imported the classes from ASM into and then distributes the EDU profile to the iPads.

In some cases the EDU profile has not been pushed out to the teacher's iPad, so we have been able to fix this by creating adhoc groups in JamF, adding the teacher to that adhoc group, and then adding that adhoc group to the Class, which then (after a blank push command) sends the EDU profile to the iPad. This sometimes does the trick, but even with the EDU profile installed students can still appear as Offline.

In conclusion, our Apple Classroom issues are inconsistent and while the majority of classes are working well, we have enough causing issues to make it a problem.

If anyone has any suggestions, any comments would be welcome.

Hello.

We have this issue too and it seems to be something wrong with the wifi private address (starting with iOS14). Disable the Mac address randomization on the MDM side for students and teachers should helps you.

Good luck !
