I subscribed to the Economist via iTunes, but Apple refuse to acknowledge they screwed up the subscription

I subscribed to the Economist via iTunes. The economist cannot see I have a subscription whilst Apple say I should take the problem up directly with The Economist. I feel cheated by Apple as itunes took the money but then refuse to acknowledge the problem.

How do I resolve this issue when Apple (who took my money) won't help whilst The Economist (who never received the money from Apple)?
