Contacts in Messages and Outlook are all messed up after updating iPad

I updated my iPad. Tough I entered all passwords correctly (Apple ID, iPhone and iPad) the iPad password was rejected. I refused to change my password because it was not wrong. I was given the option of entering the iPad’s last password and it worked, but my contacts in Messages and Outlook in the iPhone and iPad are not the same. Many are missing. This is infuriating! Updating is hazardous. I wish I did not need to, because of this bullsh*t, but my company insists for security purposes. What happened? How do I fix it? Thank you!

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Hi, russojd1952, and thanks for reaching out. We see you're having problems with your content after signing in with a previous password. We'll be glad to assist.

We see you came here from About iCloud Data Recovery Service

Since you'd mentioned that it wasn't allowing you to sign in with your Apple ID, the device may have been signed out of your Apple ID. That will cause content not to sync between devices.

While the password may be correct, it's possible that it may need to be changed or reset if some sort of security issue was detected (For example, too many failed sign in attempts. Though there are many more possibilities that could cause that to happen as well).

From here, we'd recommend making sure you're signed in under Settings > Your Name.

If you're already signed in there, we'd recommend signing out, then back in to see if your data re-appears. You may also need to change or update your password at this point as well: Change your Apple ID password

We hope that helps out.

Take care.
