iPhone 13 Pro poor battery life time

I have a pretty big concern about battery life in my new (2 weeks old) iPhone 13 Pro. It is said, that this iPhone is provided with the best battery life ever, not only among iPhones, but also among other companies’ flagships.

In many battery drain tests on YouTube, or by many users’ opinions, iPhone 13 Pro can last for approximately 7-9 hours on screen time, whereas my record OST (with almost none of off screen time ) is about 4-4,5 hours and 100% battery usage.

In the attachment you can find screenshots of my battery usage. I use standard apps like Facebook, Instagram, safari, music, etc. No 4K video recording, nor video gaming.

All my settings are set to maximum battery saving, however I don’t buy $1000 phone to use half of its capabilities just to make it throughout the entire day….

Moreover, I have already handed this phone over on warranty to get it checked and they said there is no problem and everything works perfectly great. But it’s not. Then, I handed it second time and they changed motherboard and battery. Still the same problem, 4-5H OST every day!

I have tried everything, from updating the iOS to trying to use it as a completely new phone.

Even during writing this I lost 4% of power!! With 50% screen brightness and connected to WIFI.

I don’t know what I can do.. I cannot return it, service cannot help me either. I feel a bit scammed, especially that I use iPhones, as well as other Apple devices since the first iPod shuffle and first iPhone.

Can you recommend me any solution to this case?

First, a general comment: Of all of the billions of smartphones that have been bought over the past 15 years there has not been even one user who was satisfied with their battery life. Maybe an exaggeration, but not much of one.

If you charge the phone overnight with Optimized Battery Charging enabled the phone should last all day until it is time to charge it overnight again. But an app that is used a lot or that uses a lot of energy (Facebook, for example) can change that. And when the phone is new there is a lot of “housekeeping” that is done to organize and index the data on the phone. That can take several days. So you can’t really get a good idea of your battery performance for the first week after getting the phone or updating it.

And youtube videos showing battery life are totally worthless, unless you use exactly the same apps that the youtuber used for the same number of minutes and at the same times of day with the same cellular network signal strength, the same phone calls, the same number of email messages and texts, etc.

9am to 3pm is 6 hours.

I don't know why the charger cut out 3 times in the night. Was that you?

Some tips.

There may be apps that are inherently incompatible with the new iOS

Start by removing any VPN or security apps. Apart from being totally unnecessary they are also a strong contender.

Many mainstream apps need an urgent update, so go to App Store and scan through your apps for those that need updating.

While there, uninstall any apps you haven't used for some time. They are unnecessary update burden.

Check the battery usage chart in battery settings for any obvious bad apps but not every background process is shown.

Any streaming apps or apps that can run with phone closed, or Clocks that hold the phone unlocked, always force close them afterwards, despite the accepted wisdom not to.

Only after all that do you need to do the simple stuff advised in

In extreme cases you can backup and restore to factory.

This should not be needed on a new phone but...

Hello konrad270,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you have concerns about a short battery life on your iPhone. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so let us help from here! Let’s start by reviewing the following article which may help: Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan. This article gives many general tips, as well as iPhone specific tips, to make your battery life last as long as it possibly can.

One thing we would like to touch on is your mention of having used your iPhone “as a completely new phone.” When you say that, do you mean that you restored it completely using a computer and iTunes/Finder, then set it up as a new device? If so, it would be important to test the iPhone just like that, without adding any content that you backed up to iTunes or iCloud, at least for a test period. If there is a possible cause in your backup that is being passed from your old iPhone to your new iPhone, you may be introducing the same issue when you transfer the data.

Please let us know if you have follow up questions, so we can continue assisting. Take care!

I erased everything from my iPhone and then set it up as a new device, only logging in to my iCloud account. But I did not restored it from my iCloud backup. Just a fresh phone with iCloud account logged in.

Didn’t use my computer at all for this purpose.

So, you say I should just erased my phone again and try to use it with about even logging to my iCloud account?

To be hones, I hope it’s not the case, I don’t want to create new account, I have all my data there…

Thanks for getting back with us, konrad270. We understand wanting to have all of your data available. This test would not have to be permanently, but just for a test period of maybe a day or so. This will let you make sure that the iPhone battery is working as it should, without any impact from your software changes and data additions. This is an important step in the diagnostic process that can help us best resolve this issue for you.

We do advise trying that for a brief period after assuring you have a good, recent backup first. The steps in the article we linked are also extremely helpful to make the best of your battery.

Let us know how this goes! We're here for you. Have a good day.

Hello again,

Hope you doing fine.

I tried what you asked to do previously.

Unfortunately, things are still the same. 4-4,5 hours OST using STANDARD apps like Facebook, Instagram, Safari, TikTok, Photos, Music, Messages…. It’s pretty ok when it comes to standby time, cannot complain. But as soon as I start to use it drops couple % in MINUTES

For example, today, OST I have 1 hours and 2 minutes - used 20% of battery!!! using; Safari, FB, Phone, messages.

The battery’s just melting.

I’ starting to be a little bit annoyed and frustrated. I cannot receive any help from Premium Resellers (I don’t have an Apple Store in my country). I’m stuck with a broken iPhone for $1000. Scam
