Migration Assistant stuck after selecting Time Maschine on NAS

The Migrations Assist on my M1 MBA is stuck after login in on the NAS. It keeps looking for other sources.

Any ideas? Time Maschine is from an MBP running 10.14.06., this machine won't update for some reason, but get's stuck in the Update process.

No idea if you can attach an NAS device directly via cable, but a wireless connection rarely works, if ever.

There are many such threads as yours on this very forum, all solutions involving wireless advise to use direct cable.
