What are relocated items after restoring the Mac?
I had to restore my mini and a folder 'relocated items' appeared. What are these items in the folder and can they be deleted or do I need to do something else with them?
Mac mini, macOS 12.0

The "Relocated Items" has only been interesting after the Catalina upgrade, when the new read-only system volume has been introduced and user files, for example configuration files, (or files created by applications) stored on the read-only system volume needed removal to an area, where the users could read and write. For sucessive system upgrades to newer system versions I found nothing interesting these folders.

It is a bug in the operating system. You can just delete that folder.
It is a good idea for the few people that have made low-level changes to the operating system. But for the other 50 million people wondering what to do about this folder, it is just an Apple bug that needs to be deleted.
Isn't there a text file within the folder that explains? Usually they can be deleted in safety.
And the operating system shoves a bunch of these generational folders into /Users/Shared as I noticed on my Big Sur 11.6.1 M1 mini.
Yes and it was totally not helpful.
