How do I export the selected Key Photo from my Live Photo to a PC?

When I set a new Key Photo from my Live Photo, it does NOT change the JPG image that I see in the DCIM folder. Not even if I flatten the live photo back to a still (on the iPhone 12). So when I export to my PC (Win 10), I get the wrong frame - just the original default frame that iOS chose. I've also tried to "duplicate"my chosen Key Photo to make a still. Again, it looks fine on the iPhone, but the wrong frame is in the duplicated image film in Windows 10 Explorer.

I don't believe I had this problem a year ago (but that was a different Phone (11) and PC (Win 7). It's quite annoying. I just went through the photos from the whole year, picking the best Key Photos to compile an album of the year - but none of that effort translates when I try to export the images.

OK - let me answer my own question in case anyone else is wondering. The selected Key Photo is available but with a different name - I guess as with other edits. Let's say iOS's default Key Photo image is "IMG_00XY". This image will not be updated with your new choice of Key Photo (even though logically it should be, as all frames are equally valid and stored in the .MOV if you want them). Instead the chosen frame is saved as a new file "IMG_E00XY". Depending on your filing system sort, this file may appear nowhere near the original image. Usually, I sort by file type to separate the .JPG from the .MOV and .AAE, but then Windows secondary alphabetical preference will skim off the edited photos to the end of the folder. If you open "IMG_00XY" it will be the wrong image. If you sort by "Created", you will have better luck, at finding the image you want where you want. However, it's still annoying to have the rejected defualt Key Photos appearing.
