Can't connect Macbook Pro to JBL Charge 4 speaker

Laptop has software version MacOS Monterey 12.0.1and JBL speaker fully updated too, but cannot pair the MacBook to the speaker (whereas I can pair my iPhone with the speaker and my headphones with the MacBook). I tried deleting the Bluetooth files on the laptop and restarting, but still when I go to Bluetooth Preferences the speaker doesn't even show up as being able to connect although it's on and discoverable. How do I fix this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, EmmaLynn3.

We see that you're having some trouble pairing your Bluetooth speaker to your MacBook Pro. We've got some questions to better understand what's going on.

•Has the speaker ever paired with the Mac? If so, have you deleted the pairing?

•Are you able to pair new devices to the Mac? We know you mentioned headphones, but we want to make sure it can pair to new devices if those had been previously paired.

Does the same thing occur in another user account? Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We look forward to hearing back from you.
