Payment method

I can’t edit the expiration date of my payment method. I’ve tried adding the card with the new expiration date but it says payment method already exists. It won’t let me delete it and add it do to subscriptions and it is my only payment method. I have the latest IOS and I have updated it on the Apple website, itself but it continues to tell me payment method expired.
