TextEdit freezes on opening files through "open" or "Open recent" menus (Monterey on MBP Intel 16" 2019)

As you can see one could easily reproduce this bug on the Intel machine under the same OS.

TextEdit is vital for me so this bug makes my use of the OS quite uncomfortable.

Text Edit has had a bug since Introduction of Big Sur and continues in Monterey....

Often time in rebooting Textedit is frozen with a spinning wheel and needs to be force quite an reopend to continue normally.
