No place to enter verification code

I recently had to factory reset my older MacBook Pro and the default software is OS Lion. When entering my information for my APPLE ID I get a message saying “cannot connect to Apple server.” Sign in through iCloud in settings. Well I do that and the send the 6 digit verification code to my phone. BUT THERE IS NO PLACE TO ENTER THE CODE ON THE MacBook Pro. It just prompts me to enter the code but there is no field. How can I resolve this??? It very frustrating

Hi Dagodfather010,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you are using an older macOS and not finding a spot to enter your verification code to complete sign in to iCloud. We can help.

You should find resolution under the Frequently asked questions section of this article: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID. Specifically the section titled 'What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?'. We've quoted the information from there, below:

"If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field."

Best regards.
