New MacBook Pro 16" 2021 is very warm after charging overnight

Last night, I plugged in my new MBP to recharge. This morning it was quite warm. I looked at the charging history and it hit max a short time after I plugged it in. Is this warmth a concern? Should I not leave it plugged in once it's recharged?


This is my third MBP over the years and I haven't noticed this warmth in the other models.

Apple 140W USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable

  • 16-inch MacBook Pro models introduced in 2021


These models can also charge with a USB-C charge cable.

 Learn about charging 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro.



If your situation improves using USBC, then simply wait for a point update for Monterey 12.0.1 to resolve the issue.
