MacBook Pro typing extra and wrong letters

When I hit p, it types pr.

For r, it types pr.

For f, it types f;

For v, it types v/

With external wired keyboard, all keys are typed correctly.

I tried option + command + P + R while booting. But, this did not reboot twice with beep even after trying few times.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Hi AnKitYo,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble with your Mac keyboard. We’re happy to help.

If you haven’t already, we suggest testing to see if the issue persists in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Depending on the model of your Mac, you may want to have it inspected to see if it qualifies for this Service Program: Keyboard Service Program for MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro - Apple Support

We hope that helps.

Take care.

Visited the Apple service center. They told they have to replace quite few of the things from the base like keyboard, battery plus one or two more items.

I requested for a new laptop but they said it is not possible.

I am very unhappy about this as the factory assembled laptop will be opened and operated though it is very new.

Can Apple not give a new laptop and sell this one as a refurbished one?

How to I escalate this issue please?
