Apple Pencil connected but not working.

I had heard that the pencils were becoming unreliable after updating so I have tried to avoid it, but last night while charging my iPad updated itself. Now, the pencil is connected to the iPad but isn’t actually working. I went into settings and turned Bluetooth off and then back on, reconnected the pencil and it worked for under a minute. I am writing notes for class and it just stops. I also turned the iPad on and off but that is not working either. I just replaced the tip and it is screwed on tightly.

Any suggestions?

What generation of Pencil are you using? How long have you had it? Does the Pencil charge well? Have you checked the charge status of the Pencil? I ask, if it has sat for a while without a charge, the battery can fail, or at least begin failing.

I have an iPad Pro 11, with a 2nd Gen Pencil and it has not shown any problems in use, neither with text in my Notability app, nor in other apps such as marking up a pdf file. You can try other troubleshooting steps in this support document. Connect Apple Pencil with your iPad - Apple Support

It could be that, but it could also be the tip. You say that you replaced it and it is screwed on tightly. Is it possible that you screwed it on too tight and damaged it? Did you replace the tip for a reason, did you drop the pencil? I have a first gen pencil and an iPad 8. I have had both for a little over a year and have never had issues with charging. Because I use them both regularly, I charge them fully almost everyday.

The support page was the first thing I looked at when I noticed issues but my pencil went back to not working.

I’m starting to wonder if the battery is failing. When I am writing my notes the lines will start and stop and there are gaps in my writing. Could that be the battery?
