I'm buying a new acBook Air for cyber Monday as a gift and won't be able too return my old MacBook Air for another 3-4 weeks. Will this be allowed? I could use the extra cash to lower my new cost.

If you’re referring to a trade-in, there’s not a time limit on that, though the trade-in offer is only guaranteed for the specified time. You might get less in trade-in value. Or none. At its limit, the trade-in sequence is the hardware-recycling sequence.
