Unable to edit the depth of pics taken in portrait mode from iPhone 11 on the new MacBook Pro 14 inch 2021.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I have observed if you take photo from an iPhone (my case iPhone 11) without touching the depth option (blurring the background) then that pic can be edited in the photos app of the MacBook . By edited I mean the Portrait mode shows up in the adjustment tool and you can play around with the dept. However an already depth edited photo cannot be further depth edited on the Mac. In this case other editing options like Light, Colour, B&W etc. other than portrait mode are displayed.

Is this correct?...

Hello MandarRane,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're having an issue editing Portrait mode photos on your Mac after editing first on your iPhone. We'd like to do what we can to help.

Looking at the guides for editing photos for Mac and iPhone, we're not seeing a restriction about the photo already being edited on a different device:

Photo editing basics in Photos on Mac

Edit Portrait mode photos on iPhone

This doesn't mean it's possible. The edited version, when on the Mac may not be compatible with further editing options.

If this has worked before in previous iOS or macOS versions, then we'd recommend contacting Apple Support:

Take care!
