How did I get iCloud Plus?

I never knew I had it until I signed into iCloud.com on my Mac. None of my devices run Monterey or iOS 15, but iCloud Mail says I can add a custom domain. What did I do? I had a 50GB plan with iCloud before Plus existed, is this why I have it? Am I being charged extra for this, or is this still $0.99/mo?

Paid iCloud plans are now called iCloud+ and come with a few new features. There is no additional charge.
