MacBook Pro 2017 LCD backlight not working

On the Apple website there is a whole section that says that there is an issue with MacBook Pro that were sold between 2016 and 2018, but the recall and free repair is only for 2016 models. If this is a well known issue then why are the MacBook pros 2017 models are not covered for repairs. I would imagine a company like Apple would actually take care of its loyal customers who have encountered a problem that is known to the company. Please step of your game is extend this repair/recall program. It is very frustrating to know that company is dealing with a known issue. Regards
