series 7 watch will not turn off/go dark when i turn my wrost away from me

hi, when im not using my apple watch it still is on even when i turn my wrist away from me, the screen doesn't turn off or go dark, it stays on. i made sure the wrist orientation was correct, which us my left wrist and the digital crown on the left side as well.

Well........Since Apple Watch 5, then 6 and now 7, Apple Watch has an Always on Display. You can turn that feature off if you don't want an always on display by going to the Apple Watch App on your iPhone, Display & Brightness > Always On. You can also change the Wake Duration at the bottom of that settings page from 15 Seconds to 70 Seconds.
