Mapped drives disappearing

I am somewhat new to the Mac OS. On my Windows laptop I have several drives mapped to our office file server (which are visible when I am in the office or on the VPN) as well as mapped drives to my server at home (visible when working from home). On my Windows laptop the office drives simply show as disconnected when I am working from home and not on the VPN, but they remain mapped.

On my Macbook I mapped the shares from our file server while I was working in the office. After working from home and rebooting I noticed that those drives no longer appear. So when I go into the office to work, or connect to the VPN, I have to manually reconnect the drives. Is there a way that this can work similarly to Windows? In that, the mapped drives stay persistent even if the connection cannot be made?

Hello Smiffer55,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities!

We understand you're wanting to save your mapped drives so you don't have to manually reconnect each time.

Have you tried the steps in this Apple Support page: Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers - Apple Support

The 'Reconnect to recent servers' section might have the options you're looking for.

We hope this helps answer your question.

Cheers!
