move Music to external drive
What is the best way to move Music to an external hard drive to free up space on my MacBook?

That certainly describes the concept. It's the steps to get there that have me stuck. I was able (through chat) to get an appointment at the local Genius Bar, thankfully.
Any pointers on the steps in the meanwhile?
