Apple TV Siri Remote IR problems

Hi, I have the latest Apple TV box with the new style Siri remote.

All has worked fine until tonight when my TV was going crazy (red IR light flashing) and it only stopped when I put my finger over the IR part of the Apple TV remote.

I ended up having to take it out of the room.

Does anyone else have this? Is there a way to reset the remote (I could only find how to reset the Apple TV box) or do you think its a hardware fault?

Cheers

Ben

It sounds like a hardware failure. Only the volume buttons use IR. It could be damaged on the inside from drops or other accidents. Looks closely if you can see if + or – is less raised that the other end. If so, then press firmly and shortly to try to get it to release up again. That only is for the mechanical part. The electronic part is more difficult.

I’m afraid that there is no repair program for non-functional keys. If your issue isn’t covered by warranty, then you’ll have to get a replacement remote. Do contact Apple for options.
