How to get a different Apple ID for each one of my iPhones?

How to get my 2 iPhones to not both ring and read the same messages . They are 2 separate phone numbers ?

Hi,


This issue is due to an Apple ID account offering the features iMessage and FaceTime for the Apple ID email account, not just your phone number.

If signed into the same Apple ID, not only will iMessages, phone calls, and FaceTime reflect across each other’s devices, iCloud+ Storage content will mix and appear on the devices.


You can absolutely have two separate Apple ID accounts, and it is highly recommended!

Multiple people sharing the same Apple ID can cause many issues and inconveniences to the user.


First things first, decide who gets the new Apple ID account, and who is keeping the current Apple ID account.


Next, whoever is creating the new Apple ID, on their device, go to:

Settings > Name > Sign Out at the bottom > Enter your Apple ID password to disable Find My for the device you are signing out of > Confirm that you want to keep a copy of the associated iCloud data on that device after sign out by swiping them green. This is optional to keep.


Now, on the device keeping the original Apple ID, go to:

Settings > Name > Name, Phone Numbers, & Email > Reachable at.

Confirm that you see only your phone number for iMessage & FaceTime, and your Apple ID email.


Next, go to Settings > Name > Password & Security > Trusted Phone Numbers.

Make sure only your phone number is listed.


Then, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

Confirm that both your Apple ID email and phone number are checked in the first box.

In the second box, titled ‘Start New Conversations From’, make sure only your phone number is checked, and your Apple ID is listed.


We are now going to create an Apple ID for the other device that just signed out of iCloud Settings.


On their device, go to:

Settings > Sign into iPhone > Don’t have an Apple ID? Create One > enter the email address that is going to be used as the new Apple ID.

Make sure that this is a valid email and can be accessed, because a verification code will be sent to it to complete the Apple ID setup.

Enter the verification code > enter your personal information > enter a billing/shipping address and phone number, regardless if you are putting a payment method on file or not > complete the account sign-up.


Once complete, click on Settings > Name > Media & Purchases > if it says ‘Off’ click to turn it on.

You should receive a pop-up that says, ‘This Apple ID has not yet been reviewed in the iTunes Store. Tap review to continue.’

Tap Review > Swipe green to confirm you agree to the Terms & Conditions > enter your country/region > confirm your billing info and phone number once more

You should then receive a pop-up that says ‘Apple ID Setup Complete’


Next, go to Settings > Name > Name, Phone Numbers & Email > Reachable at.

Make sure their phone number is listed for iMessage and FaceTime, as well as their Apple ID email.

If it is not, tap Edit and add accordingly.


Then confirm they have their trusted phone number associated for two-factor verification codes & sign-in attempts under

Settings > Name > Passwords & Security > Trusted Phone Numbers.


Once that has been confirmed, go to Settings > Messages > make sure iMessage is enabled > click on Send & Receive > confirm both the phone number and Apple ID email are checked in the first box.

In the second box, make sure only the phone number is checked, and the Apple ID is listed.

If the Apple ID is not listed, tap Sign in with Apple ID/Use Apple ID for iMessage.


Lastly, go to Settings > FaceTime > make sure the phone number is checked for FaceTime and the Apple ID listed under Caller ID.

If the Apple ID is not listed, click Use Apple ID for FaceTime/Sign in with Apple ID.


This should then resolve your issue.
