AirPod Volume Too Loud On Iphone

Given the raving reviews, I've bought airpods. The volume issue has plagued me ever since -

(Issue1) On Windows 10, airpods volume is always on maximum when used with Zoom. The sound mixer settings of Windows have no effect on airpods, for some reasons.

(Resolution1) After pairing the airpods on Win10, the ONLY way to change the airpod volume for Zoom (or any other apps) is to go to Settings, then find "App volume and device preferences" where you'll find the "Zoom meeting" volume control there when you're in Zoom. For the Zoom app, make sure the Input/Output are both set to use Airpods heads-free mode.

(Issue2) Now, on iphone, I have the exact same issue in which airpod volume is always on maximum after pairing it. The iphone default ringer/volume control has no effects on the airpods. (WTF)

(NO RESOLUTION) Can anyone help???? (FYI, I'm on iphone7)
