I just got the new MacBook Pro (14 inch) with the 96W charger. I have a charger extender from my air (2020) and the apple store says that the extender works with usb-c for my pro and also magsafe 1 and 2 but no mention of the new magsafe 3... is it safe to use with the 96w magsafe 3 MacBook Pro charger?

Grant Bennet-Alder may well have interpreted your question more clearly.
The grounded 3-prong extension cord is indeed Universal—there are no issues.

If this is the "AC extension cord", those are all interchangeable and can be used on larger wattage power adapter bodies with impunity. The total current is still way below the typical 13 amp limit for such devices, so no worries.
