Are air pods just defective products?

started with air pods and they worked fine. After about a year and a half they started ending calls, couldn’t be adjusted with out ending calls, pausing music, or disconnecting! So I purchased a new phone, continued to have the same problem. Purchased air pod pros WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS! I’ve reset AND disconnected the phone and air pods multiple times and having no luck. Could someone please give me a way to fix this or change the sensitivity! I would hate to have to return these and be without ear buds…
