Hi,
I'm trying to change my user icon from the Users & Groups menu. It works fine, except it also automatically changes my iCloud account icon to the same thing, which I do not want. Vice versa, when I try to change my iCloud icon back, it changes both that and my computer user icon.
Is there any way to change these two separately without unlinking the iCloud account...? Please.

AFAIK and generally - The iCloud Account is Associated with the User ID Account. The icon used in " User & Groups " on the computer will side across all Devices signed into and using the same Apple ID.
Example - I have two Apple Desktops, one Apple Laptop and an iPhone all using the same Apple ID and therefore the same iCloud account. The Icon appearing here ( Owl ) on these Forums is Synced to All of my Devices.
Dammit, that's incredibly annoying. Why'd they change it to force icon syncing... I know it used to let you select them separately, and literal proof is the other computer I have on Catalina that still lets me do it.

The Computer Account in System Preferences >> " Users and Groups " icon or picture works independent from iCloud account and each Device can have a different icon or picture.
Perhaps I was not clear earlier and sorry about that. I chose to have ALL Places to have the same Owl appearing.

Ah, yes! That's the intended behavior I was expecting!
Except right now, on Monterey 12.0.1 (21A559), whenever I change either my iCloud icon or my user icon, it also changes the other one to the same thing. So it's a bug then?
The computer doing it is a "MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021)" with an "Apple M1 Pro" chip, if that helps.
To compare - Running a M1 Mac Mini upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey and at very first boot as Brand New - it chose a Icon for User Account other than the Owl I use now.
At month later, purchased a M1 MBA also Big Sur as New( since upgraded to Monterey ) and it too was another icon for User Account. Not the same as Mac Mini but different.
Both Computer using the same Apple ID etc.
Neither computer synced the User Account icon to the other.
The only way I was to get them with same icon for User Account was by purposefully changing the icons to the Owl.
Same thing had to be done for my icon used on the ASC Forums.
So, I really do not really understand the iCloud icon issue you are referring to.
When I look in System Preference >> Internet Account and choose iCloud in there - I do not see any place for an icon / picture to be added or even a place to put an picture or icon.
Can one provide a screen shot of just where this is appearing on this computer.
If possible - make sure there is no Personal Information appearing in this picture. It would be removed by the Moderators of the ASC Forums.
All the pictures look like on your iPhone - is that correct ?

No, I'd like to change my icon in Users & Groups without it causing the Apple ID to change as well.
Sorry to disagree but the provided picture has the image of Airplane Mode which does not exist on macOS of any variety. " Mode Avion " = Airplane Mode
Yeah only the last picture was taken on my phone. Which is why I said "it was also changed on my phone". All the other pictures are from my computer.
