Advice using Ethernet cable while using migration assistant

Could not get windows migration assistant to see new Mac running migration assistant over wifi or Mac to see pc. Should I turnoff wifi? Any other advice for a successful migration to new Mac?

Use IP over Thunderbolt to connect Mac computers

Transfer files between two Mac computers using target disk mode

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205749


The second best way is use the Migration Assistant.
