Migration Assistant 2.2.0.0 sees my Window 10 PC but will not connect.

Late mode HP Envy laptop running up to date Windows 10. No firewall is turned on. Have shutdown Norton 360 network protects and turned off Windows updates. When I run Migration Assistant, it sees the name of my PC but when I select it, Migration Assistant says it can't connect. Web searches have turned up nothing enlightening. The iMac is running macOS Catalina 10.15.6. Suggestions? (already tried ethernet).

The two computers should be connected via a USB cable. Did you use one? Wi fi absolutely should not be used if at all possible as it is too much data to transfer and you will often have corruption of the data transferred.
