So you’re encountering a Microsoft App Licensing scheme, and have no code for it? You’ll need to contact Microsoft Support.

Or you’ll need to switch to (free) LibreOffice, or the (free) Apple iWork apps, or possibly purchase a(nother) key from Microsoft.

Could you explain a little more about what has happened here recently, such as maybe a macOS upgrade to Catalina or newer, or maybe you’ve upgraded to a new Mac, or maybe some other sequence that might effect how Microsoft Office is working?

You got here from a 32-bit app article, which usually means you had Office 2011 or earlier, and have upgraded to Catalina or newer.

If you are now running macOS Catalina or newer, you’ll need to purchase Office 2016 or newer, or acquire an Office 365 subscription, with Office 2021 being the current version. Or you’ll need to switch to and use (free) LibreOffice, or use (free) Apple iWork Pages, which can read and write many Word documents.
