Safari Documents and Data

So Apple just ignores this question. It is now December 2021 and i still have 5gb of Documents and Data credited to Safari on my iPad. Not on my iPhone 7??? Yes have cleared everything etc etc and as some said in the past waited till Safari decided to do something, but nothing has happened. Surely there is an answer to this. I would even be grateful if Apple said "we don't know", butas usual they just ignore the problem and you have to learn to live with it.

Can't even just delete Safari and use another.

Do you have any website pages saved in your Safari Reading List? If so, this is not cached data, but is instead “saved data” that can be reviewed when offline, or even if the original webpage is removed or modified.

Sorry, as you can tell from my frustration no one seems to have answer. Yes, what you say clears website data,, which on my iPad is nil, but not Documents and Data. In fact I’m pretty sure no one really knows what this is.

if you go back a couple of years this discussion was full of people some with 12gb of Documents and Data. I read all these, but no answers. The discussion seemed to fade as people, probably like me live with the problem.

Deleted most of my reading list, restarted iPad - it took a while to load iPad storage, but Safari Documents and Data still at 5.2gb, so no difference. sorry. Maybe it’s just “stuck” on that number and it doesn’t mean anything. iPad functions okay, although since ios15 it does need its memory refreshed quite often, but hey that’s another story.

many thanks to all
