Why does the sound on FaceTime not work?

Which device are you using FaceTime with? Is that device updated? Do you have any other issues with audio on this same device?

Does this happen with only one contact or multiple contacts? Are you using FaceTime video or audio when this happens? Is the mute button enabled when this happens?

If the steps we provided earlier didn't help, it may be best to Contact Apple Support to have them look into this with you further.

Got it.

Since this happens with only one contact, it may be helpful to delete and add that contact back again.

If you still have issues after that, Contact Apple Support would be the best next step.
