I don't know if this is normal. I use my mac all day and it is sometimes on for 12 hours. If I'm feeling that it's getting very warm at the lower rear of the case, is this something I should worry about?

No, computers have parts that get warm. Consider restarting it 1x a week and ensure it has adequate airflow, 6" around all sides is more than enough.
Thanks for the reply. I shut it down every night. It's getting plenty of airflow where it's sitting. It's new, so I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. My 2013 iMac didn't used to get this warm but it was made differently, sot that's probably the reason.
