Creaking/popping noise, when tilting opened MacBook Pro 14 2021

Hello!

I noticed my brand new MacBook Pro 14 (M1 Pro) does slight creaking/popping noises when the lid is open and I am tilting it. I noticed it when I had it on my lap sitting on the couch.

The situation si weir to me because, you don't have to move the lid it just has to be opened.

Then when you take the laptop in the air and start tilting it slowly towards yourself it does this slight creaking/popping noise (like not lubricated door). It seems to me like if the weight of the lid was causing some tension somewhere, perhaps the lid mount to the base where the screws likely are.

Should I consider it normal, or should I get the computer replaced or fixed? I bought it just about a month ago and didn't use it much, since this is my personal machine and not my work machine. Am I eligible for a replacement, given I am in Poland, so there are no Apple Stores, just Premium Resellers and Authorised Service Providers.

Would be glad if I get any answers.

Hi jkadamczyk,

It sounds like you're hearing a creaking or popping noise near the hinge of your new MacBook Pro. Generally you would not hear noise from opening the lid or picking up the computer with one hand, etc so long as it is within acceptable operating temperatures. For example, if the computer is in a very very cold location, that contraction in the metal may contribute to some hinge noise.

However, if that isn't the case, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support to have it looked at, just to ensure there's no issues.

Thanks for the video and additional details.

From here, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for additional assistance. If there is no Apple Store in your country, they may be able to direct you to a different Apple Authorized Service Provider, or lay out other options to have the Mac inspected.

So I left it at Authorised Service Provider and they did not fix it and actually pretended there's no issue. They told me they made sure the hinge is mounted properly, but here's a recording of how this sounds after being taken to the Authorised Service Provider. In Poland there's no such thing as Genius Bar. It's funny because I left my iPad Air 4th Gen because the volume-up button was getting stuck occasionally and they gave me a brand new one, but here – nothing.

This is definitely not an ideal situation for me and definitely doesn't seem like good customer support to me.
