APPLE TV4K REMOTE

MY TV4K REMOTE REPLACED MY FIRESTICK. MY TV IS CONNECTED TO MY RECEIVER.

THE FIRESTICK REMOTE WAS ABLE TO POWER ON MY TV AND RECEIVER WITH ONE BUTTON. IT ALSO WOULD CONTROL THE VOLUME OF MY SPEAKERS THAT ARE CONNECTED TO MY RECEIVER.

THE APPLE TV REMOTE will power on my receiver but NOT the tv. It also controls the volume of the built in speaker on the tv but NOT the volume of my speakers that are connected to my receiver.

How can I correct this for the Apple remote to do exactly what my firestick remote used to do?

Verify that HDMI-CEC is activated on Apple TV box, and on the TV (and on the receiver). On Apple TV: Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Control TVs and Receivers﹥On.

CEC has been available as long as HDMI. (It was defined in HDMI Specification 1.0.) Although manufacturers don’t have to implement any of it.

CEC may be available under various brand specific trade names. Panasonic may call it VIERA Link.

CEC is available over HDMI. Receivers connected with optical Toslink will not get CEC commands.
