iCloud Private Relay not hiding IP address macOS Monterey

I have enabled in iCloud settings, and on network adapter with no errors. In Safari in macOS, it does not hide my IP address at all. On the same wifi network, Private Relay works fine on my iPhone, so it isn't anything having to do with the wifi network. Is anyone else seeing this issue? Is there any place that I can upload diagnostics to?

Hi Mario,

I followed the directions in the linked article, as well as restarting my Mac, turning off Private Relay on my Wifi connection and back on, and disabling and re-enabling Private Relay in iCloud.

The service shows as started and on with no errors.

This issue arises when I go to whatismyipaddress.com or similar, it still shows my Comcast IP address with no obfuscation. This is different than on my iPhone, where it shows a different IP address, using the same Wifi network.

Hello elevated_permissions,

Thanks for completing the steps. Next, let's check and see if the issue occurs in a different user account. If you already have another user account set up, then you can use that one or create a new one to test in using the steps here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Once done, you would enable the feature and check again.

Also, does the issue occur in safe mode? If you are not familiar with the safe mode steps, you can follow the steps here: How to use safe mode on your Mac to get it done. Once in safe mode, you'd want to use the Mac as you normally would to see if the issue occurs again. You can tell when the Mac is in safe mode because on the desktop it will show the words Safe Boot in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Take care
