Have you tried to see if the same thing happens when using your speakers in a test user account? If not, give that a try. That can help you isolate the issue to your user or computer wide. Follow these steps to create that new user:

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If it doesn't happen in the new user, you'll know that this issue is related to an app or setting on your side of the Mac.

If you find that this is computer wide, you may want to Contact Apple Support to see if they have any other recommendations.
