Too many optional categories under add related name.

Hi

when I go to add a related name to a contact, a number of categories are available. mother, father etc ….

On my phone with iOS 14x, though, a myriad of foreign language options have appeared, e.g. French, German, even some with oriental characters.

I can go to “edit” but I now just see the original list: e.g. brother, spouse, manager etc. So I can’t remove the spurious foreign language listings there.

How can I clean up that drop down list to include just the English Language options please?

  1. Settings > General > Language & Region.
  2. Select just your preferred language(s) in your preferred language order.
  3. Do not include Japanese, Dutch, Italian, and whatever else might included, if you don’t want those languages to show.

  2. If it is your personal device, in that case, do you have any profile installed by your corporate/organisation/enterprise/School Management?
    1. Erase the profile added by you If you have installed a profile on your own --> Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple ...

Hi MrHoffman

well yes if I go there to “Language andxreguon” I can see a whole lot of languages listed on the “preferred language order” pane.

but only one (English) is checked on the “IPhone language” pane.

there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove languages from the “preferred language order” list. Just re-order them?

screenshot below

below, just one language is checked.

thanks

Hi Mr Hoffman,

thanks but I'm not entirely understanding.

you write "Select just your preferred language(s) in your preferred language order."

BUT in the long list of countries, where one may set the order none are "selected"

If I click "edit" I can individually remove them, but is it safe to do this?

I cant work out what those extra languages are used for.

I've no idea where those languages appeared from unless a recent iOS update installed them, I've been an iPhone user for a very long time and never had this issue before.

thanks
