how do I attach a name to a birthday?When I edit and click on the “birthday”
it keeps reverting to the Chinese choice on the language page

You cannot attach images to birthdays in the Contacts App.
You may be aware that when you add a birthday in the Contacts app the same is reflected in the Calendar App too.
You may also be aware that there are 4 types of Calendars on an iPhone, namely
- Gregorian
- Chinese
- Hebrew
- Islamic
Since you stopped at Chinese Birthday and have not explored further, you have this question. If you had tapped on the Chinese Birthday you would have got an answer.
