I want to listen to music on my iPad Pro. I’ve bought a USB C to jack 3.5mm adapter but there is no sound on my earphone. Pls. advice.

As described, depending upon brand/model, your earphones may not be wired correctly for compatibility with iPad/iPhone. There are different wiring standards for TRRS connections.
In general, there are three main wiring standards for 3.5mm TTRS connections - and they are not interchangeable:
CTIA (Apple)
OMTP (Nokia)
Camcorder AV
Perhaps it’s not clear enough I will explain.
I have a wired earphone with a 3mm jack connector and connected it to my new iPadPro 12.9 inch 5th. Gen. by means of a 3mm jack-USBC adapter. The earphone is not working and a second one neither.
Is it possible to use such an old earphone in combination with this new iPad?
