Siri adds an apostrophe S ('s) to my daughter's name...how do I fix it?

Question for the Hive Mind:

When I use dictation and say my daughter’s name, Siri puts an ‘s at the end. It even does it when I pronounce it slowly and I do not have a slur or any speech impediment that would make her think that’s what I’m saying.

And it’s not that she thinks it’s possessive, because when I say her name in a possessive form it puts TWO ‘s’s like this…

Izzy’s

Izzy’s‘s

What the heck, y’all?

Google has been zero help.

Anyone have a solution?

FYI: this is a newish problem. She's always spelled it right before the last couple of months.

Hello, and welcome to Apple Support Communities nymetschick,

From your post we can see that you want to make sure you're spelling your daughter's name right. It's treating her name in the possessive plural.

Let's see if the info in this guide helps: Use Dictation on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You'd want to focus in on the section "Dictate text" and look at "To replace a word, double-tap it, tap the microphone button , then say it again, and tap the keyboard button." We're hoping this will help learn the way you'd like her name to be spelled. As a suggestion, it might be a good idea to updated the name on her contact if you haven't already. It might help the feature learn the new spelling quickly.

Take care and tell Izzy hello!
