iPhone Data recovery cannot be completed. Please restore from backup.

The other night I went to change my passcode of my iPhone 12 max pro from a 6 digit code to a 4 digit code. All went well and I shut my phone. I go to open my phone again and it needed 6 digits. Initially I thought it just didn’t change the passcode so I type in my old passcode and it’s incorrect. It now takes me to a white screen that says data recovery cannot be completed. Please restore from backup”.

I’m not sure that I even backed it up. Any suggestions? I’m trying anything not to lose my data.

also I still get notifications, I just can’t unlock the phone…
