iPad screen dims to very dark on login screen

Since taking delivery of 60 iPads for school I have noticed that when I fit the cases we bought the login screen fades to near black making it difficult to see the screen. On experimenting it seems that covering the two ambient sensor's (one in each of the top corners) causes this problem because on removal of the front cover the screen comes back. This did not happen before IOS15. Is this a software problem or a problem that the case designer was unaware of brought about by IOS15.

From the sounds of it, the cases are new. I echo the sentiment that you may need a different case.

It is a problem that the case designer was not aware of.

Anyone should know that covering the cameras dims the display, so you really need some better cases.

The cases do not cover the cameras, there is a cut-away at that position. The sensors are located toward each corner. The cases are of reputable make and have served well protecting the iPads from the 'rough and tumble' of school life. This situation has only shown up since updating to IOS15.
