why is changing the notification sound(s) on 3rd party apps no longer an option on the most expensive iphone(s) to date? iOS 14, iPhone 12

Can someone please either prove me wrong & solve this mystery, or explain to me why it was decided to delete the most basic feature from the iPhone 12 line, which allowed us users to simply have different notification sounds on a good portion of 3rd party apps on the app store?

Saw this thread on the apple support forum (where im posting this) this year, 2021: Changing the app notification sound to a … - Apple Community - which looked promising, as it stated it was in fact possible. However, the apple support article linked & mentioned in that same above support thread of course only verified my assumptions... this overpriced device actually does not offer the option to do so in 2021 after all.....found here: Change notification settings on iPhone - Apple Support

If by some miracle I'm wrong on all the above - please enlighten & delight this increasingly unimpressed iPhone user...thanks!

The notification sounds for an app are determined by the app designer, not by Apple.
