I accidently downloaded the wrong OS can i delete it

I need to update my OS to Big sur but i accidentally downloaded Monterey. Is it possible to delete the OS that I downloaded? ofc I didnt instal it yet. Not seeing it anywhere to delete. 2015 mbpro, currently on Catalina

Revert back to original operating system. I have an M1 chip MacBook Pro. It came with Big Sur. I have updated to Monterey. Is there anyway to revert back to the original operating system my Mac came with from the recovery mode/utilities without losing any files etc. Thanks

Choose Applications from the Finder's Go menu and throw it away.
