music app not adding new songs

I’ve always downloaded mp3 files onto my Mac and they always show directly in my itunes app and start playing straight away. However, they are no longer showing in the app and I can no longer import new files into it. Can anyone help me with this please?

ive already verifiedthat the files are not corrupt and Ive tried all methods of adding the songs to the app, for some reason nothing works however when i click on the mp3 file to preview it it does play, something seems to be very fishy with this

Try going to music.apple.com

"Play songs from your library in Apple Music on the web"

Find the songs you want to play in your music library, then use the controls in Apple Music on the web to shuffle or repeat songs, adjust the volume and more.

  1. At music.apple.com , do any of the following to find music in your music library:
    • Find a specific song or album: Click any option under Library in the sidebar on the left. For example, click Albums to see all the albums in your library.
    • Choose a playlist: Select a playlist under Playlist in the sidebar on the left.
    • Search your music library: See Search for music.
  1. Move the pointer over an item (such as a song or album), then click the Play button .
  2. Do any of the following:

Thank you for your reply, and for providing clearer info. on what you need.

Wondering in which app on your Mac your mp3's are not playing.

The Apple Music app should read the contents of your iTunes library ok.

Or

You might want to try opening your mp3's in the Mac QuickTime app, and see if they play ok there ?

Sorry you didn't find Apple support's articles helpful.

They can help us understand the recent changes, and get familiar with them.

Mac mini also have a Support site, if that's any help:

All the best :-)

As I previously stated, they are valid files, they play in quicktime and other apps, unfortunately they r not playing on the music app, not by dragging n dropping, not by adding them ro the library, because they dont even want to add, not by adding them to the music directory... so im not sure why, but there is a glitch somewhere because when i go to the file in the finder and hit preview it plays the music, but it plays it on the finder preview, on quicktime on other music apps, however on the apple music app it is not playing it is not adding the files, it is not doing anything

U r turthfully not helpful at all.... im asking for help to get it to work on the app and ur asking me to go thru the web and play it from the web.... i do not think u should be providing anyone answers if ur not even understanding what is being asked and u seem to have no technical expertise.... i am not asking for a workaround i asked for help in fixing the glitch.... 👎👎👎
